Anna-Liisa Eller (b. 1988) obtained a Master’s degree with distinction from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2014, as a student of Professor Kristi Mühling. During the previous year she had studied at the Lyon Conservatoire (CNSMDL), where her teachers were Professors Yves Rechsteiner and Rolf Lislevand. She spent the academic year 2013–2014 at the Trossingen University of Music, again studying with Professor Lislevand, and she is at present working for a Doctorate at the Estonian Academy of Music under Professors Toomas Siitan and Imbi Tarum. Her finest achievement in international kantele competitions has been first prize in the Koistinen Kantele Competition in 2011.
Since 2010, Anna-Liisa Eller has been teaching the kantele at the Georg Ots Music School in Tallinn. As a performing musician, she specialises in early and contemporary music. She closely collaborates with several early music ensembles, such as Supersonus, the Ensemble Kapsberger, Oni Wytars, Vox Clamantis, Rondellus and Fioridante. Supersonus will be releasing a new disc on the ECM Records label in the present season. Anna-Liisa Eller has also appeared with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.
