Wolf Matthias Friedrich
For nearly 30 years Wolf Matthias Friedrich inspires audiences all over the globe with his singing. The solistic career of the bass singer started with an award at the International Dvorak-competition in Karlovy Cary in 1980, followed by an engagement at the Staatsoper Dresden from 1982-86. An enormous ambitus, the variety of beautiful colours in his voice, technical brilliance, musical intensity and dramatic talent characterise his singing together with broad dynamic range and perfect intonation – not an implicitness for singers also active on the opera stage today.
Soon Wolf also established himself in the field of concert, song and oratorio. His regular work with directors as Michel Corboz, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Roy Goodmann, Marek Janowski, Konrad Junghänel, Nicholas McGegan, Philippe Herreweghe and many others often leads him to the most important concert houses and festivals on all continents, and is reflected on more than 60 CD and DVD recordings.
Amongst Wolf‘s most recent opera productions are parts in works by Monteverdi, Händel, Mozart and Wagner in opera houses and festivals in for instance Cologne, Brisbane, Sydney, Innsbruck, Drottningholm, Berlin, Wiesbaden, Dresden, Tanglewood or New York.
The singer appears on the most important early music festivals worldwide, but also presents recitals and Lied concerts.
